Mario di Genova, named
President- Europe/Africa Division of
InterContinental Hotels Corporation by
President Robert Huyot, has held numerous
executive positions since his years of service
with the company. In 1982, he became President
of the Americas Division. He remained in this
position when Mr. Prince retired from the
InterContinental Hotel Group.
His previous position with InterContinental
was that of Senior Vice President-Operations
New York. Earlier he served as Vice President –
Operations in the Latin American Division and
General Manager of the Hotel Tamanaco, Caracas,
Venezuela; General Manager of the Hotel El
Salvador InterContinental, San Salvador, El
Salvador; Resident Manager, Hotel Nacional,
Havana, Cuba; and Executive Assistant manager,
Hotel Tequendama, Bogota, Colombia. Prior to
service in the United States Army he was
Assistant Manager of the Hotel Plaza in New
York City.
Mr. de Genova was active in a variety of
organizations: past President of the Venezuelan
Hotel Association and of the Allied Members of
ASTA for Central America and a member of the
Board of the International Hotel Association.
He was a member of the Knickerbocker Club of
New York City, the National Academy of History
and Geography of Mexico, the Heraldic Society
of England and is a corresponding member of the
Italian College of Heraldry, Rome.
He was awarded the Knighthood of Merit of the
Italian Republic, the Gold Cross of St. John
Lateran (Vatican), the Medal of Arts, Science
and Letters of France, National Order of the
Republic of the Ivory Coast, and is a Knight
Commander of the Holy Sepulchre.
Born in France, Mr. di Genova is now a U.S.
citizen. He was graduated from Ecole Superiore
de Commerce, Marseilles, and holds Doctor
Honors Causa from the Mexican Academy of
International Law.
Mr. di Genova’s headquarters in 1970 was
located in the Hotel InterContinental Paris,
Paris, France.
