John C. Carrodus, named Senior Vice President-
Services for InterContinental Hotels
Corporation by President Roberty Huyot, has had
extensive experience in the hotel industry and
has delivered numerous lectures on the subject.
He was previously Vice President- Operations
South Pacific for InterContinental and General
Manager of the Hotel Southern Cross in
Melbourne, Australia.
Prior to joining InterContinental as General
Manager of the Hotel Southern Cross in 1964,
Mr. Carrodus was Director of Development for
Australia and New Zealand for
Pan American
World Airways. In 1966 he was appointed Vice
President-Operations South Pacific for
InterContinental.
Australian-born Mr. Carrodus has served the
hotel industry in numerous capacities. He was a
qualified accountant and prior to joining Pan
Am Airlines and the InterContinental Hotel
Group, he was General Manager for all Chevron
Hotels in Australia.
In
1955-56, Mr. Carrodus was a member of the
Housing and Catering Committee for the Olympic
Games held in Melbourne; he represented the
industry on State Government Wages Boards and
was a past member of the Australian Hotel
Association.
He had lectured extensively on hotel
development and operations at various seminars
and universities, including the National
Catering Institute and the University of
Hawaii.
In 1967, Mr. Carrodus was elected Hotel Manager
of the Year by the Australian Federation of
Travel Agents and remained as the Director of
the Pacific Area Travel Association. He was
also a life Governor of several Australian
hospitals.
Mr. Carrodus had maintain offices at
InterContinental’s headquarters in the Pan Am
Building, New York City.
