R. Kane Rufe was named Senior Vice President Far East/Pacific of InterContinental Hotels Corporation by President Robert Huyot. InterContinental’s former senior officer in the Pacific area, John c. Carrodus, has been named Senior Vice President-Services based in New York City.

            Mr. Rufe who remained as a General Manager of the Hotel Siam InterContinental, Bangkok, Thailand, was formerly Vice President-Operations Far East. Previously he was General Manager of the Hotel Bali Beach, Bali, Indonesia, and the Hotel Indonesia, Djakarta, Indonesia, both operated by InterContinental.

            He joined InterContinental in 1957 in the corporation’s Latin American Division and held management positions at the Hotel Del Lago, Maracaibo, Venezuela; Hotel InterContinental Ponce, Ponce, Puerto Rico; and Hotel Embajador InterContinental, Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

            Upon being graduated from Cornell University School of Hotel Administration in 1952, Mr. Rufe served with the United States Air Force for four years. He is a member of Theta Delta Chi, Cornell Society of Hotelmen, Hotel Sales Management Association, Pacific Area Travel Association and Rotary.
